Why is a credit card required to make a reservation?
Similar to many hotel reservations, and a growing number of restaurant reservations, our Gondola reservations require a credit card number to assure us that you will show up or cancel at least a day in advance. Since we require a day's advance reservation, we cannot hope to fill a cruise at the last minute after a customer has decided not to show up. It becomes lost revenue, and we then charge the defaulting party the full price of the cruise. A simple way to avoid being charged for a cruise you didn't take is to call and cancel the day before; we will be able then to give your spot to another customer. It is different than dinner reservations, which can usually be filled by walk-in customers.
